What participants create

Proof, on paper and on record

Every page of the participant workbook is something you write, record or decide. Over the full arc, the work adds up to a portfolio.

Creative pathway

A bar grows into a released single

Creative pathway: a bar becomes a verse, then a hook, a full song draft, a mixed song and a released single.
  1. BarWeek 1 · 4 lines from real life
  2. VerseWeek 2 · a place, through Land
  3. HookWeek 3 · “I’m the one who…”
  4. Full song draftWeek 4 · recorded rough cut
  5. Mixed songWeek 8 · own beat, own verses
  6. Released singleWeek 12 · with a release plan

The full portfolio

What the 12-week arc is designed to produce

Writing

Bars, verses, hooks and bridges written from lived experience, plus private journal reflections.

Beats

An original beat loop built from scratch with the equipment in the room.

Recordings & songs

Two full songs: one recorded and mixed in First Verse, one mixed to release quality in Next Verse.

Two personal blueprints

A one-page answer to all four factor questions at week 8, updated at week 12 with goals for housing, income and the next project.

A personal budget

Income, needs, wants and savings, using a realistic number from a stipend, paycheck or gig.

A release plan

Platforms, a target date, a cover art idea, who it’s for, and one authentic post idea.

Every setting is different

Outputs depend on where a participant enters, how many sessions they attend and what equipment the setting allows. A participant in a short stay may leave with written work and a blueprint; recording and release happen where studio time and consent allow.

Entrepreneurship pathway

Thinking like the owner of the work

From week 6 on, participants practice the decisions that come with ownership: who wrote it, who performs it, who profits, and what happens to the money.

  1. IdeaA song, a concept, a project
  2. Ownership decisionWho writes, performs and profits
  3. Resource planTools, time, budget
  4. ReleasePlatform, date, audience
  5. ReinvestmentWhat the work funds next

Last Verse

Where finished work is published

Last Verse is being built as the place to release work, build a public portfolio and stay connected. Nothing is published without the artist’s consent, plus a guardian’s consent for anyone under 18.
